Each painting begins with a single, positive word—such as love, clarity, or expansion. The word is abstracted until its form becomes the image itself.

Encountering the word in this unfamiliar form is intended to invite lateral thinking. Instead of reading the word directly, the viewer meets it first as an image, allowing the mind to form new associations around the a familiar idea.

The project exists both as a series of original paintings and as the Oracle of Associated Light card deck and guidebook. The guidebook was written by revisiting the paintings while the originating words—written on the backs of the canvases—remained outside the artist’s immediate awareness, allowing interpretations to emerge through the same associative process the cards are designed to prompt.

A limited edition of the deck and guidebook was funded through Kickstarter in 2021 and selected as a “Project We Love.”
