Pike National Forest, CO

Paintings available.
Canvases are placed directly on the forest floor and worked with pastel in response to the felt shapes and textures beneath the canvas.
Many of the earliest paintings in the series were buried and later unearthed, or left outdoors for six months to a year, allowing nature and time to alter the surface.
In the studio, thin layers of paint are applied to preserve the pastel and marks created through exposure to the elements. Some canvases remain buried and are intended to be uncovered as the series expands.
